Bought the F1 pickup to put in a P bass I built. Maple neck with maple board on a Northern Ash body. I knew due to the wood, the instrument was going to be fairly bright sounding, so I chose this pickup as it’s listed as being their darkest sounding pickup. I chose wisely. It picks up the harmonics nicely, and it is still a fairly bright sounding bass with tone for days. It is just ridiculous! It ended up being the best sounding P bass I’ve ever played on. Bright enough to get a snappy tone when slapping, but rolling the tone off around 50% gives me a warm what I would describe as silky tone. Really, really nice pickup. Looking to buy the Black Gold pu to try in my alder bodied Precision next.

I purchased a set of F1 pickups for my Ibanez TRB-50 I bought for the purpose of upgrading. These pickups are the greatest sounding bass I have ever heard, never mind that the body isn’t even made out of real wood. If I ever purchase another bass, it will be getting a set of Epic Custom Shop pickups no matter what, because even a $10,000 bass could not compete with any bass that has an Epic Custom Shop Pickup in it. The F1 pickups are dark and perfect for metal, but easily can be dialed back for brighter and vintage tones on any amp or recording software, these pickups are the best bass pickup design ever invented.
